News from Douala
After finishing of the last planning session with our technician we headed back (for the third time) to the airport. This time with the confirmation that our luggage was there. And this time it was really there! A burst of joy and excitement!
Since there was nothing to do for us on Sunday in Douala, we took a ride to Limbe. A small town near the foot of Mt. Cameroon and birthing place to most of Cameroons oil platforms. One sits in the middle of the bay. We spent two nights and the day in a very quiet peaceful hotel with not so quiet peaceful guts.
Back in Douala on Monday we commenced our shopping tour by foot, taxi and on the back of motorbikes. After visiting the local junkyards, small metal shops, hardware stores and concrete dealers we found most of what we needed. Our Highlight: a 6,4 meter galvanized Pipe for a chimney that should give our incinerator a good draft. Found in a place that sells materials from old disassembled oil rigs. Everything gets a positive thing to to I guess 😉
Tomorrow we want to finish and get ready to turn our back to the actually quite expensive Douala and head into the Highlands to get to work. The entire crew is highly excited and is scratching in the starting holes – as one would say in Germany.
Don’t forget to turn in again for more news form Cameroon and our Incinerator Project!
À bientôt!
